Vintage and scarce, Beautiful, and beautifully made vintage piece of Baker Furniture. Designed in the Empire style and made of mahogany with the drawer fronts having dramatically figured flame veneers. The hardware is 2.75 round ring type pulls, in a satin level brass finish. The top drawer has a working lock with key.

Below this is a pull-out surface for depositing watches, jewelry or spare cash. There is a double deep sweater drawer under this, and three regular drawers below.

The drawers' sides and backs are of solid oak, and are dovetailed on all four corners. The corners of the piece are angled, with a pilaster topped with a flat brass capital, and brass base. The piece's top and base also follow this angled corner, which gives the piece an architectural feel.

The drawers are all immaculate and glide smoothly. The stain is a reddish amber, and the finish is a smooth semi-gloss.

There are some minor dings around the base, and on the top's projecting, angled corner pieces as well. Altman Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York, most likely in the late 1960s - early 70s. The chest stands 60.75 tall.

The top measures 39" wide, 18" deep. The case portion of the dresser is 36" wide and 16.5" deep. The double-depth drawer is appx. 29.5" wide, 14.5" deep and 14 from front to back (all when measured on the inside). Items to the West Coast may take and extra one to two weeks.
