Unbelievable Antique Jewelry Chest With Original Brass Lock Working 8x9x12

Two weeks ago I had the Honor of moving one of the nicest human beings I have ever met. We moved him into an assisted living facility. I found out during the move that he has no living family. I asked him what he wanted to do with basically the contents of a four bedroom home out of Greenwich, CT. He offered me a deal that I could not say no too.

He said he wanted me to have everything provided I would swing by once or twice a month to say hi. He has some amazing things. P, although I would have come visited him regardless of his offer.

He tells some amazing tales. I just visited him Easter Sunday and while there I asked him about a few items. I did not know where to start with this Jewelry chest.

It looks like it is Mahogany. There are a couple of small scratches and chips. The worst of which appears to be at the top right rear edge. My client said this belonged to. He is 92 so you can imagine this is old. I could be wrong but I doubt this is much younger than that. His family came from Europe. He gave me the name of a town near Halifax in the UK.

Therefore I assume this is European. It does not look Asian because there is not much carving. There is some carving into the metal that goes around the front brass plates. The carvings are of leaves.

Leaves tens to be the them here as the brass handles are in the shape of leaves. This features two drawers and a flip up top. The bottom drawer has some discoloration to the front. It looks as if the Mahogany has dried up a bit. It is not a very large blemish, but noticeable non the less.

The lock is what fascinates me. It looks like an old Chinese finger trap.

It works by sliding a brass mechanism into the lock and that opens it. There are handles on both sides, they work perfectly. The latch and lock work perfectly. A piece like this should be on display in a household.

My client had is in a curio cabinet in the study. He kept guitar picks in it actually. This is such an amazing item to list.

Lately it seems that every job I do, my clients have been providing me with items they either no longer need, want or have room for. I get a little bit of everything. I currently have two warehouse units full of things to sell. Please check out all my current listings and follow me to see my future listings.

As a mover, I come across everything. I have furniture, clothing, books, baseball cards, appliances and more. Stay safe and thank you for taking the time to visit my store and read this add. This item is in the category "Antiques\Furniture\Trunks & Chests".

The seller is "movingtre38" and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped worldwide.
