Early Kittinger CW-18 Solid Mahogany 4 Drawer Colonial Williamsburg Chest

The chest is in structurally sound condition. It does have a chip in the drawer trim on 2 drawers. The top drawer lower right hand corner and on the bottom drawer left hand lower corner about a 6 inch piece of the trim that goes around the drawer has be chipped away. The second though larger is not as noticeable.

There are a few small minor finish issues, and some dents in the top and feet [see last picture of all the issues mentioned] It has its original finish and brass hardware. Each drawer also has locks that work with the original key. The 4 dovetailed drawers glide smoothly. The inside secondary wood is poplar. The drawer bottoms are chamfered planks as is the chests back.

Even the sections between the drawers is solid planked wood and not wood paneling. It has an older paper label and the older brand marking. The brass hardware is in good condition and would polish out well if you choose to do so. The pulls are nut and bolt attached and the exposed tacks on the back plates and escutcheons plates are recessed. There are no splits, cracks, or repairs to the chest.

Item offered is a vintage scarce and early Kittinger solid Mahogany Colonial Williamsburg 4 drawer Chippendale style chest by Kittinger. It has brass hardware, working locks and original brass key. The back and drawer bottoms are chamfered pine plank boards.

The case and drawer fronts are stunning solid Mahogany wood with a beautiful wood grain. The corners on the front of the chest are nice fluted half columns.

The drawers secondary wood is poplar and the drawers are dovetailed. The chest has some dings in the top and legs [see pictures] and 2 chips [see pictures] but overall is in good vintage condition especially when considering its age. It is from the late 1930s to early 1940s. It has the early paper label and the earlier burnt in brand mark for the Colonial Williamsburg reproductions. The drawers glide smooth and all the locks work well and the original key is still with the case.

Everything you see is original. Nothing has been added to the finish and there are no repairs to the structure or the finish. A beautiful piece by Kittinger and a Colonial Williamsburg chest that is quite scarce in earlier productions. All our items are either. And will show the usual minor signs of wear and use.
