Victorian Miniature Collectors Chest of Drawers. A fantastic tabletop collectors cabinet dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It is a good quality piece made from mahogany with fine dovetail joints. It has brass knobs and stands on small bracket feet. Chests such as this were used for storing all sorts of things - collectors would use them to store samples in, whether that be rocks, butterflies, eggs or coins etc.
This particular chest has six drawers, graduating in depth from top to bottom. Overall it is in good original condition and is certainly a very usable piece. There are signs of age and use and the cabinet has picked up some knocks and scuffs and small marks over the years but the drawers are generally clean and tidy and all open smoothly.
There have been some historic repairs, some of the locks are missing and the knobs have been replaced at some point but overall it still displays very well. Width : 13 1/2 (34.5 cm). Depth : 10 (25.5 cm).
