Stunning inlay work (boxwood, ebony & satinwood). Harebell garlands tied with ribbon bows. Exquisite brass oval back plates & handles. Dark blue gold tooled leather surface. Brass hinged arm supports with locking mechanism.

Original working locks (with keys). Comprising a mahogany frame, inlaid with harebell garlands tied with ribbon bows to the top and drawer fronts, with boxwood and ebony inlay, including satinwood banding to the drawer fronts.

The top drawer slides out, and the front is hinged to reveal a compartmentalized interior consisting of a large central sycamore drawer above several pigeonholes, flanked by smaller sycamore drawers, all of which are oak lined and hand dovetailed. The internal drawers retain their original brass knobs. The Secretaire interior retains its original brass sliding hinges and locking mechanism, along with the original central brass lever lock (with key). The writing surface houses a fine quality dark blue and gold-tooled leather.

The long drawers below the Secretaire feature a reverse graduated design, constructed with oak drawer linings and hand dovetail joints. The drawers boast their original exquisite brass oval ribbed back plates and handles; along with the original working brass lever locks (with key).

The chest is raised on an elegant shaped apron, along with the original splayed bracket feet. This item was constructed during the Edwardian period (1900 1910), in the style of the Regency period (1812 1830), which took its design from the classical beauty and finesse of Egyptian, Roman and Greek classical architecture. This can be seen in the form of refined inlay, clean straight lines and splayed feet.

During the Edwardian period, there was a popular resurgence in Regency style furniture. The Secretaire features a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This item would look superb in a variety of rooms, from the landing to the bedroom. This campaign chest would certainly grace any home.

So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture. This Secretaire is in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the corners and leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item.

The oval brass back plates and handles are original, and in fine condition having been cleaned. The Secretaire retains its working hinges and locking mechanism.

The interior is fitted with a new dark blue and gold tool leather. Therefore, the leather is clean and free from any wear, damage, and stains.

All drawers close flush to the frame and feature the original working locks (with a key). The item stands on its original slayed feet and incorporates the original backboards. It is solid in joint and ready to use. External Height = 99cm or 39 or 3ft 3.
