The chest was presented to Frank Dwight Taylor, a Detroit business man, from his friends for a half century in business, April 5 1860 - 1910. I have offered some information regarding his interesting life and even mentions the event of the presentation. This beautiful chest has solid brass handles and brass name plate. We have not polished leaving that decision to the new owner. The chest originally held service for 12.
It is lined in green velvet. The lid lining is in good condition.
The tray linings are all there but need cleaning and the forms in one of the trays to be glued in place if you want to hold silver. The trays can easily be reclined. We offered a photo of the trays removed. We think it will make a great jewelry chest or for any thing collectable. The chest is in very good condition with only a few bumps.
The finish is original and as nice as it looks in the photos. The bottom drawer is locked in place when the lid is down. Lift the lid and the drawer can be pulled out.
I do not have the key that locks the lid. Please note that we sell antique or vintage items.
