This is by a high end cabinet maker. A very fine and heavy piece of furniture.
Custom made in the Salem flavor with the large turned roundels at each corner, wonderfully carved waterleaf motifs and the nicely shaped and reeded posts. The top drawer shows several divided compartments for storage as shown.
Large bat wing Chippendale pulls. (There are 5 with missing bales) and one small center batwing is missing as seen. The top surface shows some dark spots and surface scratches with wear from use over the years. Back left roundel cracked at some point and has been restored.
Overall a very usable chest of a good size. I would date to the early 1900's. A style seldom seen exactly like this one.
