Antique Empire Mahogany Butler's Chest. This butler's chest or desk is a neat item that you don't come across very often. It is made of Honduran mahogany with oak secondary. It has a fall front writing surface that conceals an arrangement of ten small drawers, and four pigeon holes with arcaded crestings. This area is flanked by two small doors with two drawers on the left and three on the right.Below are three long crossbanded drawers. The corner terminals are projecting out and are turned and reeded that end with turned feet. There really a lot of historic charm to this piece--a wonderful conversation starter that would look absolutely great in the right location. Condition : The piece is in very good condition. There is some topical age related cracking to the top.
The small top drawer inside of the right cabinet is a modern replacement. There are remnants of contact paper on the drawer bottoms. There is no key and the status of the locks is not known. There are other minor cracks, dents, dings, scratches, and surface imperfections.I'm happy to take additional pictures, please ask! Dimensions: 54"W x 24"D x 44.5H.
