19th C. Mahogany English Campaign Chest in Two Parts

A light colored solid Mahogany English Campaign Chest, mid to late 19th century, with Mahogany secondary woods and Pine backboards. It retains all of its original brass locks, brass binding, flush brass drawer pulls, brass keyhole escutcheons, brass lift handles, and original removable Mahogany feet. 42 1/2" High, 191/2" Deep, 36 Wide. The chest is in very good condition with an older mellow finish that is in good condition. This chest exemplifies practical portability which was its primary purpose.

British military officers, wealthy individuals on safari and London flat owners short on space, these chests were produced from the Late 18th Century through the Early part of the 20th Century. They were made in England, India and East Asia for use around the globe. Still practical, these chests are in demand today.
