1971 Henkel Harris Solid Mahogany Bachelor Chest with Pullout and Brass Pulls
This chest when found was in wonderful structurally sound condition. The wood was also in great condition. It had cosmetic issues with the finish and the previous owner had used it as a red candle storage chest which left a lot of red candle dye in the bottom of the drawers.
I resurfaced the the exterior of the chest with commercial grade lacquer. It did not completely remove all of the deeper finish dents on the top but close. It did however remove all of the surface scratches. The chest is from 1971.
The hardware has been polished to bright brass. I hand sanded the bottom of the drawers to remove as much of the red candle dye as possible and was able to get most of it out but did not want to risk sanding through the oak veneer bottoms so did not get it all out. I stained the Oak bottoms a Golden Oak and finished with several coats of clear lacquer. I think the end result turned out very well in part because the wood case was in such good condition. There are no chips, splits, cracks, deep scratches, odors or repairs to the wood case.The finish has been resurfaced with quality spraying lacquer. The dovetailed drawers and pull out glide smoothly. All of the brass hardware is original. Item offered is a nice resurfaced 1971 Henkel Harris Mahogany Bachelor Chest with pull out and brass hardware. It is in very nice structurally condition with a new clear lacquer finish on the outside of the case and on the drawer bottoms.
The Mahogany wood is in very nice condition with a nice grain. The solid brass pulls have been cleaned and polished. The finish is a nice brown Mahogany.
The chest is clean inside and out. All our items are either. And will show the usual minor signs of wear and use.
