The chest is crafted from the best grade imported Caribbean Mahogany with an unusual grain pattern. Caribbean Mahogany is the best in the world with high oil density that gives it its signature sheen and unique mineral deposits that create the dark striations.

The drawer faces are crafted from sequential cuts of mahogany which is why every drawer face has such similar grain. The chest has a desirable 2 over 6 format for a total of 8 drawers.

The chest has a dental carved crown with crotch mahogany veneers below surrounded by a thin molding. The drawers have cock bead molded faces and retain their original locks & escutcheons. The chest has a nicely scrolled bracket base and a really sweet fluted lambs tongue carving along the sides of the upper case. The chest is in fantastic condition with our only notes being age expected surface wear, swapped brasses, a few dental molding pieces missing, & a few places where the cock bead & side molding were broken off and re glued. We've been bothered by only having a couple chest on chests as they've always been a staple of our inventory.

This chest does have a few repairs like most do after 200 + years but it's still a visually striking, commanding chest. The chest measures 43 3/4" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 75 1/4 tall. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation. We have a large inventory of fine antiques ranging from Early American, Federal, Chippendale, Empire, Centennial, Victorian, 20th Century custom mahogany, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern antique furniture along with decorative arts from across the globe. All the items we offer to the general public are high quality estate pieces. We do not offer goods with significant flaws or defects. We completely avoid items with issues. You can expect the items we sell to have reasonable wear and tear.

Due to the large volume of goods we deal in we cannot describe items in minutia. We do our best to give you an accurate condition report in our description of the items.

We have expert woodworkers and re-finishers on staff to service any piece of furniture we offer. We represent all merchandise in absolute good faith and to the very best of our ability.

They are not furniture movers who bring the items into your home. We can get you special services in certain cases, but you are responsible for telling us you require them and for the extra cost of these services, if you instruct our shippers to provide services beyond curbside deliveries. We are responsible for any additional services and charged for these services.

Again the process is all designed to protect your investment and is an option offered for your protection. We dont like to send nice people off with things tied to roof racks. We are not a storage facility. We are happy to hold your items for a reasonable pre-agreed upon period. We have a zero tolerance policy for non-paying buyers.
