Circa 1840 Classical Empire four drawer chest, high grade book-matched flame mahogany and solid birch, probably New Hampshire or Maine, USA, full Classical turned columns extending into baluster turned feet, large ogee mold top drawer, two small accessory drawers on top, 5 bookmatched splash, solid birch tops and sides, original turned mahogany pulls, dovetail construction. 43 wide, 49 tall (includes 5 splash), 19 deep. Condition overall solid and good, great original nominally crazed surface, shows some veneer edge nicks on panel above left column.
