Baker Historic Charleston Collection Mahogany Chinese Chippendale Style Serpentine Chest. Copied from a 1770s antique, furniture with Oriental overtones was in full fashion in this era and was the motivating factor behind the hand sawn fretwork adorning the chamfered corners of this beautiful mahogany chest. The fretwork is an offset by the French inspired serpentine rococo front with four dovetailed constructed drawers with two graceful brass escutcheons and drawer pulls on each drawer. The chest rest on three sided bracket feet. The Baker Historic Charleston Collection recreates history's finest furniture from antiques from the 18th and 19th century found in Charleston, South Carolina. The collection was extremely high end and expensive, would make a great hall chest, dining room piece or statement piece in your home.
