Antique American Federal Mahogany Bowfront Chest Of Drawers Circa 1800. This Hepplewhite style chest features four drawers over a shaped skirt with flared French feet. The top and skirt are finely inlaid and the drawer fronts have flame/crotch mahogany veneers, with stringing and crossbanded mahogany borders. The drawers are also cockbeaded in mahogany.
The hardware is of the period, and the correct style for the piece, probably original, though there are other hardware holes. The finish is original and there is some distressing on the top.Two of the drawers have a small piece missing at the back. There is some chipping under the top drawer. The chest is 37 1/2" high by 42" wide by 23 1/4 deep. There is a name on the back, "Ames" Possibly the Ames family of MA. Guaranteed to be as described.
